A laptop isn't a simple box of parts, and a MacBook even less so. Recent MacBook models solder RAM and storage directly to the logic board — there's no swapping a stick of memory like on an old Dell. Screens are calibrated to their exact Retina/True Tone panel. Proprietary pentalobe screws mean a shop without the right toolkit shouldn't be opening the case at all.

Cracked Screen
A dropped laptop can crack the outer glass without touching the panel underneath — or it can shatter both. We test for backlight bleed, dead pixel zones, and touch response (on touchscreen models) before quoting, so you're not paying for a glass-only fix when the panel itself needs replacing. MacBook Retina displays are calibrated units — a mismatched panel throws off color accuracy permanently.
Won't Turn On / No Charging
Before assuming the worst, we check three things in order: the charging port and cable, the battery itself, and the power-delivery circuitry on the logic board. A laptop that "won't turn on" is a symptom, not a diagnosis — treating it as a motherboard problem when it's actually a cheap port issue costs you unnecessarily.
Battery Draining Fast or Swelling
Gradual battery drain is normal wear. A swollen battery is not — if the trackpad has started lifting at one edge or the bottom case won't sit flat anymore, stop using the laptop and bring it in. Swollen lithium-ion cells are a genuine fire risk and need to be handled with dedicated tools, not opened casually.
Slow Performance
Often not a hardware failure at all — a mechanical hard drive nearing end-of-life, insufficient RAM for current software, or a storage drive that's simply full can all present as "my laptop got slow." We diagnose which one it actually is before recommending an SSD upgrade or RAM addition, rather than upselling a part that won't fix the real bottleneck.
Liquid Spill Damage
The first thirty minutes matter more than anything we do afterward. We power the device off immediately, isolate the battery, and clean the logic board under inspection before any power-on test — corrosion spreads fast, especially with sugary or salty liquids, and it spreads faster the longer the device stays powered on.

Newer MacBook Pro and Air models solder RAM and SSD directly to the logic board — there's no removable stick to swap, which means a storage or memory fault is a board-level repair, not a five-minute part swap.
Retina and True Tone displays need color calibration matched to the specific panel after replacement, not just a generic screen swap. Battery replacements on MacBooks require a service-mode reset in software so macOS reports accurate health and cycle count instead of throwing false warnings.
